Tucker Allen finished just shy of the National Finals Rodeo in 2023. This season, he made sure it didn’t happen again and his first qualification to the Thomas & Mack.
With $93,437 in regular season earnings and a few big wins to his name, Tucker is the No. 13 ranked steer wrestler in the PRCA World Standings. Although this is his first NFR qualification, Allen has thrown steers in the Thomas and Mack before as the extra and he is hoping that helps him out come December.
RodeoHouston, $25,000
In Super Series 4 of the biggest Texas Swing rodeo, Allen split Round 1 with a 4.4 to get off on the right start. He placed in the remaining two rounds to earn his way to the Semifinals. A 5.2 in the Semifinals made him the No. 3 man to advance to the Finals. In the Championship Shootout, his 9.9 was fast enough to be second and he cashed in big to get the year started.
Reno Rodeo, $16,580
Allen’s Summer Run got started just how one would want. A win in Round 2 with a time of 4.1 would help him get to the Finals. There, he was a 4.7 to finish fourth in the Go-Round however, when combined with his first two times, Allen split the Reno Rodeo win with the No. 1 cowboy in the World, Dalton Massey.
West of the Pecos, $4,278
The momentum from Reno Rodeo carried Allen through another win back in Texas. That next weekend, he would play the Average game better than the rest yet again. A 4.9 in Round 1 and a 4.5 in Round 2 made him the No. 1 steer wrestler and earned him another trip to the pay window.
California Rodeo Salinas, $5,848
At one of the biggest rodeos in his home state, Allen finished second in the Finals and the Average. In total, he was 23.9 seconds on three.
Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, $4,634
The fastest run of Allen’s regular season would come in Colorado. A 3.6-second run would cinch him the win in Castle Rock by just one tenth of a second over NFR veteran Cody Devers while the likes of Tyler Waguespack and Tanner Brunner also found themselves finishing behind Allen.
Poway Rodeo, $2,119
In his home state of California on the final weekend of the regular season, Allen would claim another win by almost half a second. He stopped the clock at 3.9 second to beat Tyler Pearson and Sterling Lambert for the top spot.
