CODY DEVERS 3.9 PUYALLUP WASHINGTON
There are two steer wrestlers among the top 15 that are making their first appearance at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Cody Devers and Tristan Martin are both outside the top ten but they could both still take home that gold buckle.
Devers goes into the NFR ranked no. 11 with $67,715 in earnings for the 2021 season. Devers started his 2021 season at the Heart O’ Texas Rodeo with a 4.1 and a nice check. He went on to bring a check home from San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. A hefty payday came for Devers at The American where he ended up finishing third in the shoot out round and taking home $10,000. He wont the Livingston Roundup Rodeo in Montana with a 3.2 and he took home just under $9,000 from the Calgary Stampede. In early August, he had a good run in Kansas bringing home money from Dodge City, Phillipsburg and Abilene. Dever’s rounded out his season with nice runs at California Rodeo Salinas with a 5.5 and San Bernardino where he made a 5.0 second run.
TRISTAN MARTIN 4.4 PENDLETON ROUNDUP
Martin cinched his spot to the NFR at the historical Pendleton Roundup. He was a 4.5 in the first round and a 4.4 in the final round and he took home around $12,000. Before Pendleton, Martin had been climbing the ranks. He was third at the Lewiston Roundup with a 4.1, fifth at the Tri-State Rodeo with a 4.0 and he won the Meagher County Labor Day Rodeo with a 3.2 second run. He pulled checks in Ellensburg and Walla Walla. He won the Golden Spike Rodeo in Utah with a 3.6 and a 3.8 was good enough for fifth at the Gooding Pro Rodeo. He has good runs and won good money at the Fiesta Days Rodeo, the Snake River Stampede and a few others to get him to the No. 14 spot in the world.
Devers and Martin are going up against the toughest competitors at the Thomas and Mack this December but it’s nobody they haven’t competed against before. The steer wrestling is going to be a good one.
