Two-Time PBR World Champoin Jess Lockwood Gears Up for American Central Qualifier and 2025 Season

Bull rider Jess Lockwood is hitting the rodeo road for the regular season in the PRCA.

After an injury sidelined two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood in Las Vegas, he made his first ride back just in time for the American Central Qualifier.

“I’m very excited... Last weekend was my first bull back, just kind of getting back into the swing of things and excited for it,” Lockwood said.

Lockwood has faced injury after injury, has two World Titles with over $4 million in career earnings but his love for bulls still burns bright.

“That’s all I’ve done my whole career, was ride bulls in PBR for eight years and I’ve always considered rodeoing but never just made the decision to either go straight to rodeos or do PBR and rodeos both. I didn’t need to light a fire under me again, just needed to change things up a bit,” he said.

One rodeo on his radar is the The American, the rodeo that could add another $1 million to his earnings. The format in the qualifier is a bull by bull mentality.

As the oldest Lockwood looks toward the 2025 regular PRCA season, it is his little brother who is entering him and getting his season lined out.

“He’s rodeoed hard now for a couple years. Last year, he was sitting great come spring time and then he tore his groin, Red Bluff I think it was. You know, came up short of the Finals last year but right now I think he’s sitting third in the World and that’s why I’m letting him do all the entering and just telling me where to go and where to go with him because he’s got it down to a T obviously, if he’s sitting as good as he is,” Lockwood said about his brother.

Rodeo keeps cowboys on the road all year long and it is one aspect that is completely different from PBR that Lockwood is ready for as he gears up for the PRCA season.
