Ty Harris Hustles to be the Only Sub-7-Second Run to Win Round 3 at the Thomas and Mack

Tie-down roper Ty Harris claims Round 3 win.

The tie-down roping gets faster with every go-round in Las Vegas and Ty Harris made his 6.9-second run look easy in Round 3. He was the only cowboy to be faster than 7.0 seconds and the veteran cowboy was two tenths faster than they No. 2 finisher.

“It didn’t really flow perfectly and it definitely wasn’t a perfect run but it shows how important it is to be close to the barrier in this arena. I’ve struggled with it over the years and I’ve struggled in this arena because of it. Other than that, it’s just roping but being close to that barrier is just so important here and like I said, the run wasn’t perfect, but I was 6.9 because of that start,” Harris said.

Harris also made a horse switch after Round 1 and jumped on the legendary horse of Logan Bird’s, Peso.

“So thankful for that horse. Logan Bird let me on Peso. He makes it so easy right there. We kind of didn’t really get a good start last night, worked out some kinks this morning and glad to be here,” he said.

Harris is the No. 3 man in the World behind Shad Mayfield and Riley Webb but runs like his 6.9 could changee the game.
