Ty Harris and Preston Pederson Split Pendleton Round-Up Win After Intense Finals

A battle of the best ended with Ty Harris and Preston Pederson sharing the Average and title in Oregon.

The winning time in the Tie-Down Roping on three head at the Pendleton Round-Up was 30.1 seconds. Two cowboys would be just that to be the first of two ties on Championship Saturday.

“Oh man, I’ve had a slow last month. I was just glad to make a good run. In the back of my mind I never thought that’d I’d be sitting here with you and be the Pendleton Round-Up Champion so I’m thankful. When you’re up against these tough of guys you just take what you can get and I’m just happy for everyone and very blessed,” Ty Harris said.

Harris would make the fastest run of the Finals with an 8.4 but Preston Pederson played the Average game of Pendleton so well that his 8.6-second run on Championship Saturday was still enough. The Oregon cowboy has now had a career high with this win.

“You know, Katy, it really means a lot to me. To be here and to get to rope, I can just thank God and that’s really all I can do,” Pederson said.

Harris and Pederson were the fastest in the grass while the Jake Pratt was one tenth of a second behind them in Average and Brushton Minton one tenth of a second behind him.
