Ty Harris Gets Emotional RodeoHouston Win After Tie Breaker Puts Him on Top

Tie-down roper Ty Harris took home the RodeoHouston win with his brother right behind him

On Championship Sunday in Houston there were two 8.2-second runs and they were both turned in by a Harris. Brothers Ty and Joel Braden Harris would land at the top of the board, but following a one-head tiebreaker through, it was Ty who was victorious.

“Getting to see him have success and seeing his emotion and the run he made, it was so hard for me to just settle myself and make my run in that long round. I was more excited about his 8.2 than mine,” Harris said.

Harris’ horse Mo was the horse that carried them both to their 8.2’s to make the top two places in Houston theirs.

The $50,000 that comes along with winning RodeoHouston has bumped Harris to No. 2 in the World Standings and he is only looking forward as the Texas Swing carries on. Meanwhile, Joel moved up to No. 5 in the World after adding $25,000 for second place.
