Bareback Rider Ty Pope Makes Monster 88-Point Ride at National Western to Move On From Bracket 3

Pope’s 88-point ride on Kirsten Vold Rodeo Company’s Breezy Fling is the highest of the rodeo so far

Ty Pope is fresh off of his rookie year in the PRCA during which he finished the 2023 regular season as the No. 23 ranked bareback rider. He has made his return in 2024 and got it started in a big way.

In Bracket 3, Round 2 of the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, Pope matched up with Breezy Fling of Kirsten Vold Rodeo Company. The two stacked up to put an 88-point score on the board. This is the highest marked ride of the rodeo this far and when combined with his 80.5 from Round 1, made the younger Pope brother the No. 1 cowboy moving on to the Semifinals from Bracket 3.

“She was real strong, had a lot of hang time, really jumping in the air, giving me time to show off,” Pope said.

It was also Breezy Fling’s first out of the 2024 season and she has only gotten better as the seasons rolled on. Her high marked ride of 2023 came at the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona when she was marked 20/20 with Jacob Lees. In Denver with Pope’s hand in the riggin, she was marked 22/22.

Pope will come back for the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo Semifinals on Saturday, Jan. 20 alongside Cooper Filipek and Will Lowe from Bracket 3.
