Utah Bareback Rider Dean Thompson Hustles For Second Career NFR Go-Round Win

Dean Thompson picks up another win in Las Vegas.

Dean Thompson has made sure to leave it all in the arena at this National Finals Rodeo and doing so has landed him back in the Winner’s Circle in Round 8.

“You know that first jump, I’ve never had a horse run my up my riggin like that and I knew, it’s time to jump on your riggin and just send it. It’s pretty crazy when you get a flash of your spurs and you can see them nice and stuck out and then the next jump, not even a half second later, you’re looking at the ceiling trying to get your chin back down,” he said.

It all came down to timing on Priefert’s Dusty Roads of Pete Carr Pro Rodeo for Thompson and when the eight seconds were over, he was 88 points.

Rocker Steiner claimed second in the Go-Round with Bradlee Miller in third to continue their domination of the bareback riding.

Steiner is No. 1 in the Projected Standings, Miller is No. 2 and Thompson is No. 3. All three of them are currently expected to finish within $3,000 of each other, so it’ll be awfully close in the final two rounds.
