More than $600,000 was paid out in Salt Lake City and it concluded with a star-studded Gold Medal Round with $13,000 going to the winners Wednesday night.

Brody Wells Wins Terrific Saddle Bronc Riding With 92 Points

Brody Wells is on the bubble and had his work cut out for him in Salt Lake City when Kade Bruno went 91 points just three outs prior to him. Wells was the last man out in the entire round and had the horse win, covering the reigning Horse of the Year Black Tie for 92 points to narrowly defeat the No. 3 ranked man in the World.

“A guy should be 90+ on that horse,” Wells said. “Because he’s just outstanding every time.”

Half the field in the Gold Medal Round of the saddle bronc riding was marked 87 points or more.

Riley Webb Edges Haven Meged on Tiebreaker in Tie-Down Roping

In tie-down roping, Webb was named the winner after both he and Meged were 7.3 seconds in a duel of Top 4 cowboys in the World Standings.

The win marks Webb’s second PRCA Playoff Series win of the season.

“I love (the competition), this last year Haven has backed me into a corner several times, and I try to come out swinging and it worked out again tonight,” Webb said.

Kassie Mowry and Jarvis Pick Up Another Marquee Win

Mowry has made back-to-back NFRs by employing a strategy of less is more. She entered Salt Lake City No. 13 in the World with just a dozen rodeos attended this season and left the champion, just like she has two other times this season.

Mowry, who has been to fewer rodeos than anyone ranked in the Top 60, was 16.75 to outpace the likes of Taycie Matthews, Dona Kay Rule, Hailey Kinsel and Jordon Briggs.

“I’ve had some great horses in my career and this horse tops it all,” she said. “He’s just taking me for a ride and I’m having a lot of fun.”
