During the NRCHA Hackamore Classic Finals at the Snaffle Bit Futurity held in Fort Worth this past week, an unexpected complication occurred — a banner hanging in the arena threw the majority of the equine contestants off their game. A black and yellow banner for the TV show Yellowstone seemingly spooked all but two horses, many taking zeros in the competition (which was eventually re-run).
Luckily the unforeseen distraction didn’t cost any of the contestant the prize money.
Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator and producer of Paramount’s hit series Yellowstone, who was in town for the filming of the upcoming season, wanted to make it right. So he cut a check for more than $181,00 — in order to pay out first place money to all of the finalists.
There were 19 Hackamore Classic finalists, meaning each received a check for $13,244.
