After winning the World in 2023, a shoulder injury sidelined Ky Hamilton early in the 2024 season.
A couple visits with Dr. Tandy Freeman and Hamilton is not quite ready to return at 100 percent, but he is hoping that the Calgary Stampede will be the right time. He has another visit with Dr. Freeman in June that will give him more information on when he is able to return.
Staying busy at home and having a good support system of fellow bull riders has made the rehab and time off more tolerable even though Hamilton says he would much rather be out rodeoing.
“It’s tough. Having a good support crew that helps, good buddies, Stetson (Wright), JB (Mauney), a bunch of guys there around me that keep it positive and I’m around bull riding all the time. I think it just fuels that fire,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton says this time off will have him fresh and ready to go as he plays catch up in hopes of returning to Las Vegas and defend his Gold Buckle.
