What was a less than perfect run for World Champion Tie-Down Roper Shad Mayfield, was a run good enough to put him second in the Go-Round and No. 1 in the Aggregate.
“Yeah it was a horrible run. I felt late at the barrier and threw a lot of rope out there. Lollipop, you know, she stops really hard and I just kept trying to move through the run but I had a lot of bobbles that I need to clean up for the second round for sure,” he said.
Lollipop is the bay mare that is Mayfield’s go to horsepower at the moment.
“She just does her job everytime and allows me to win so that’s all that matters,” he said.
Mayfield continues to dominate despite a hip injury that, at one point, he thought was going to sideline him for a season. He is the No. 2 calf roper in the World and headed to the Short Go in San Angelo.
