Andrea Busby is eyeing the lights of Las Vegas and a successful week in the Northwest is just what she needed. The Wyoming turned Texas cowgirl’s two impressive wins make her your WPRA Athlete of the Week.

The first of two wins would be the big payday of the week by way of Farm-City Pro Rodeo. The Oregon rodeo added $8,800 to Busby’s season earnings after she stopped the clock at 17.10 seconds. This cinched the win by just two hundredths of a second over Dona Kay Rule.

Busby’s second success of the week came down the road in Utah at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo. Her time of 16.86 seconds won by half a second and was worth $6,600.

With a lineup of powerhouse equine athletes getting her down the road this season, there is one that some may recognize that helped Busby get her latest wins, Benny. The big sorrel gelding is a product of Busby Quarter Horses and made a name for himself in 2023 when he set arena records and flew through the season until an injury sidelined him. Benny has made his return with Busby and the duo is feeling good.

Going into Farm-City and Cache County, Busby was the No. 14 ranked barrel racer in the WPRA World Standings. After finding her way to the Winner’s Circle twice, Busby added around $14,000 to her season earnings and unofficially, should be sitting just outside the Top 10 in the World at No. 12 with less than 50 days to go in the regular season. Busby is your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
