Carlee Otero has her eye on the Top 15 and after the success of last week, she is that much closer. The Texas cowgirl cashed in in a big way to be your WPRA Athlete of the Week.

Otero’s second biggest payday came at the Mountain Valley Stampede. She would cross the eye to stop the clock at 16.68 seconds to finish third and add over $5,000 to her season earnings.

Up next for the week was a second-place finish. This came courtesy of a 16.99-second run in Idaho at the War Bonnet Round Up. By only four hundredths of a second, Otero’s second-place payday was still pretty coming in at $3,000.

Her win came in hot at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo. A 17.05 blew the competition away but if you ask Otero, Sly was only running that fast to get away from the ferris wheel. This was a $7,600 win to get Otero even closer to the Top 15.

The fourth and final trip to the pay window for Otero came in Loveland, Colorado. A 14.61-second run would put her fourth. It was only two tenths of a second behind the winning time and still worth over $2,000.

Otero is the No. 19 ranked cowgirl in the WPRA World Barrel Racing Standings and there is two months left of the regular season. She is picking up steam just in time to hit the road hard and burst the bubble into the Top 15. She is your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
