Emily Beisel has a new palomino powerhouse in the trailer and the new duo seems to be clicking just right. Beisel and Chewy ran the fastest time at the Reno Rodeo and rode that wave of momentum right into Cowboy Christmas to be your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
Chongo, Liza, and Pipewrench are still in the rig, but it is Chewy who got the call over Cowboy Christmas with Beisel.
In Red Lodge, Montana at the Home of the Champions Rodeo, Beisel posted a time of 17.68 seconds. When the dust settled, this time would be the fifth fastest time of the rodeo and worth a total of $1,600.
Beisel’s biggest win of the week came at one of America’s top Independence Day rodeos, the St. Paul Rodeo in Oregon. Known for their patriotism, firework show, and more, Beisel and Chewy put on a show of their own. The duo set the pace early on in Performance 1 with a 17.20 that would not come close to getting beat. The next fastest time was a 17.37 courtesy of World Champions Jordon Briggs and Rollo.
Beisel’s St. Paul win would add a whopping $11,165 to her season earnings. She came into Cowboy Christmas as the No. 3 ranked barrel racer in the World and when WPRA adds up all the cash, she should be sitting No. 1.
The Oklahoma cowgirl cashed in almost $13,000 this past week to be your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
