Hailey Kinsel and Sister have four Gold Buckles to their names and are fan-favorites in the sport of rodeo but there is one rodeo that has alluded Kinsel and her powerhouse palomino during their career, the Reno Rodeo. This week, the duo captured that win to make Kinsel your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
To no surprise, the duo got faster with every run they made under the Reno lights. A 17.27-second run was their slowest run of the week and it was still fast enough for second in Round 1. It was followed up with a 17.21 in Round 2 but the competition got tougher as that finished sixth. When the Short Go rolled around, Sis was feeling good and stopped the clock at 17.06 which would be the second fastest time of the entire rodeo.
Kinsel captured the title by just three hundredths of a second to add $16,000 to her season earnings. Before Reno Rodeo, Kinsel was sitting tenth in the WPRA World Standings but this win should put her into the Top 5.
When the dust settled and Kinsel received the sought-after Silver Spurs, she thanked God and Sister. Kinsel said this was a win that her horse deserved one that she knew Sister could do, they just had to prove it.
Prove it they did and Kinsel is your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
