Lisa Lockhart made her Pendleton Round-Up debut in 2021 and has come in second twice since then as her and Cutter have proven they love the Green Mile. The $3 million cowgirl claimed the Pendleton Round-Up at the perfect time as it is the year of the Cowgirl. Lockhart is your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
Lockhart flew to have the fastest time of the Long Round with a 28.57 with the next closest cowgirl, Italy Sheehan, clocking a 28.71-second time. Her Long Round run alone was worth almost $6,000 but it was her consistency that helped her land in the top spot in the Average.
On Short Go Saturday, Lockhart and Cutter were middle of the pack and still clocked a 28.72 to split third in the Round. Their Long Round time remained to be the fastest of the week and when combined, the two earned her the title by almost two tenths of a second.
Lockhart did not enter Pendleton on the bubble like some but rodeo is a game where every penny counts come December and the $12,700 she added to her earnings in Oregon, will help. She remains the No. 6 ranked barrel racer in the WPRA World Standings trailing National Finals Rodeo first timer, Ashley Castleberry, by just $1,000 with two weeks left of the regular season.
Lockhart and Cutter have worked hard for the title and now, Lockhart is the WPRA Athlete of the Week.
