The race is on this summer run and the ladies of the barrel racing are bringing the heat as Jordon Briggs remains No. 1 in the WPRA Barrel Racing Standings with total earnings just shy of $100,000 while the remaining Top 15 continue to shuffle.
No. 5 Emily Beisel, $65,728
Emily Beisel took the lead in earnings for Cowboy Christmas as she won a total of $25,277, propelling her into the Top 5 of the WPRA Barrel Racing World Standings. Beisel took advantage of the money up for grabs as she and her trusty equine partner Chongo earned the title at the Ponoka Stampede with a 17.28-second run in the Showdown Round to pull a check for $16,835. Along with the cowgirl’s win North of the boarder, Beisel was also in the money at the Cody Stampede, Livingston Roundup and Molalla Buckaroo Rodeo.
No. 7 Paige Jones, $60,376
Paige Jones jumped 14 spots in the Standings as she currently sits No. 7 in the World with over $60,000 in earnings with the help of a big win at the Cody Stampede. A 17.20-second run sent Jones straight to the pay window where the cowgirl took home a check for $11,759.
No. 15 Taycie Matthews, $45,238
College National Finals Rodeo Barrel Racing Champion Taycie Matthews has moved just inside the Top 15 in the WPRA World Standings. Matthews won back to back championship checks at the Killdeer Mountain Roundup Rodeo and the BigFork Summer ProRodeo over the Fourth of July weekend to bring in a combined earnings of $6,709. One of Matthew’s quickest times of the summer run cinched her the win in Bigfork, MT as she crossed the eye at 16.59 seconds.
