WPRA Breakaway World Standings Update: Hali Williams Leads By Over $50,000 As She Moves Into The Summer Run

Breakaway roping is quickly becoming a crowd favorite as more money continues to be added and more cowgirls hit the rodeo road full time.

Many of the ladies within the Top 20 are household names including reigning World Champion Martha Angelone, Kelsie Domer and JJ Hampton, however, 19-year-old Hali Williams is sitting pretty at the top of the WPRA Breakaway World Standings as she leads by more than $50,000.

As the Summer Run gets started, he is a look at your Top 20 Breakaway Ropers.

1. Hali Williams - $104,450

Hali Williams has attended 45 rodeos thus far, but collected more than half of her season earnings at RodeoHouston when she took home one of rodeo’s most coveted titles. Williams had other successes in the Texas Swing as well by she finished third in the Final Round of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo with a 1.8-second run to collect an additional check for $7,000. The Texas Swing concluded and Williams has kept the momentum going as she pulled multiple checks since the start of June, including a combined $5,197 from the Weatherford Breakaway Roping (Texas) and Woodward Elks Breakaway Roping (Oklahoma). The cowgirl is on track to qualify for her first National Finals this December.

2. Martha Angelone - $50,553

Reigning World Champion Martha Angelone took advantage of the Texas Swing as she pulled multiple checks in the Lone Star State. Angelone made it through to the Championship Round at RodeoHouston where she placed fourth and secured a check for $9,500. While the Austin Breakaway Roping was even more lucrative as she took home second and about $11,000. Angelone has also won more than $2,000 at four Texas rodeos - Vernon, Hugo, Gladewater and Big Spring in May and June.

3. Cheyanne Guillory - $51,003

Guillory kicked off her season strong at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as she advanced into the Finals and stopped the clock at 1.9 seconds to take home the FWSSR Championship along with a hefty check of $25,860. Guillory continued on from Super Series 2 at RodeoHouston and ultimately finished out at No. 6 in the Championship Round collecting $7,000. Guillory’s other big money earning stretch was the Weekend of May 6, when she won two rodeos and placed second at another to bring in close to $7,000.

4. Joey Williams - $44,123

Williams got a mahority of her money this season by takin third place in the Final Round of both RodeoHouston and Rodeo Austin. A 2.8-second run in Austin secured the cowgirl $9,844, while in Houston, Williams banked $14,750.

5. Tiffany Shieck - $41,597

Shieck propelled her way into the Top 5 of the World Standings after placing second at RodeoHouston where she collected over half of her earnings as she pulled a check for $26,000. Shieck did not place at any other Texas Swing rodeo, but won nearly $4,000 for her 1.8-second run at the Redmond Breakaway Roping (Oregon) on April 8.

6. Erin Johnson - $38,630

Johnson secured winnings of over $9,900 at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and kept the momentum going into RodeoHouston advanced to the Chamipionship Round through the Wild Card. Johnson has also had paydays of more than $2,000 at the Clark County Breakaway Roping (Nevada) and Back When They Bucked Breakaway (South Dakota).

7. Danielle Lowman - $36,448

Arizona cowgirl Danielle Lowman has claimed the No. 1 spot in six rodeos so far this season. Lowman’s largest check, however, came when she pulled in over $6,000 from RodeoHouston. The Clovis Breakaway Roping (California) was also a great success he took home $5,320 for a second place finish in the Average. Since the start of June, Lowman has finished first in two rodeos one being the Sisters Breakaway Roping (Oregon) where she stopped the clock at 2.3 seconds, a run worth $3,887. Lowman has already won 10 Go-Rounds this season.

8. Sarah Angelone - $36,054

RodeoHouston paid out to Sarah Angelone as she advanced all the way through to the Championship Round where she finished out at No. 7 but took home $10,500. Angelone also dominated in Bracket 4 of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as she claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in each round adding over $4,200 to her earnings. A 1.8-second run at the Cleburne Breakaway Roping (Texas) secured Angelone with her first win of the season bringing in another great check on June 10.

9. Shelby Boisjoli - $34,363

About one-third of Boisjoli’s money this season came from when she took home the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Championship and a check for over $13,000. The Candian cowgirl has also banked more than $2,000 from Fort Smith (Arkansas), Woodward and Weatherford in June.

10. Jackie Crawford - $33,678

The 19-time WPRA World Champion is in position for her first NFBR since 2020. Crawford added close to $5,000 to her earnings in Houston during the Texas Swing and she has placed and pulled a check from Guymon, Helotes (Texas), Springfield (Missouri) and Kansas City. Crawford has moved up four spots overall since the beginning of May.

11. Kelsie Domer, $33,311

Domer left Fort Worth, Houston and Austin with at least $3,900 and has also won four rodeos this year - Ada (Oklahoma), Fort Smith (Arkansas), Coleman (Texas) and Big Spring (Texas). Fort Smith was the most profitable as she was paid $4,681 for her 1.7-second run.

12. Josie Conner - $32,630

Reigning Reistol Rookie Breakaway Roping Champion Josie Conner has stayed consistent moving into the 2023 season. Conner placed second in the Average at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo (Oklahoma) where she pulled a check for $5,273. A 2.0-second run also landed Conner No. 1 in Okeechobee, Florida taking home over $1,600. Her best Texas Swing appearance was San Antonio, where she won $1,600 for second in Round 3.

13. Jordan Jo Hollabaugh - $27,791

Hollabaugh was in the money at RodeoHouston as she pulled in $8,250. The Springtown, Texas native has also finished in the Top 3 at three other rodeos in the Lone Star State - the Mesquite Breakaway Roping, Tops in Texas Rodeo and the South Texas Classic Bustin & Breakaway. She is catching on 72 percent of her runs this year compared to 54 percent a year ago.

14. Samantha Fulton - $27,013

Although Fulton has yet to have any first place finishes this season, she still finds herself in the Top 15. Fulton won rounds at the Minot Breakaway Roping (North Dakota) in October and Red Bluff (California) in April.

15. Madison Outhier - $24,723

Outhier won big early by taking first at the Texas Circuit Finals about $6,000 for winning the Average. Outhier also won more than $3,000 in Guymon and for her first place run at the Liberty Hill Breakaway Roping (Texas).

16. Taylor Hanchey, $24,202

Hanchey won two rodeos toward the 2023 season way back in October of 2022 before she made $5,250 combined between San Antonio and Houston. Hanchey recently jumped from No. 20 to 16 by placing in the Top 6 at three rodeos from June 7-10.

17. Sawyer Gilbert - $23,414

The 2021 World Championsecured the Rodeo Austin Breakaway Roping Title with a 2.2-second run in the Final Round to take home a check for $10,836. The Mercedes Breakaway Roping (Texas0 was also lucrative for the cowgirl as she finished out at No. 2, pulling a check for $3,361.

18. Taylor Munsell - $22,770

A first place check of over $5,400 was won by Taylor Munsell as she secured the No. 1 spot at the Woodward Breakaway Roping. The cowgirl also took home a checks worth more than $2,000 in Clovis (New Mexico) and Kansas City this season.

19. JJ Hampton - $22,734

Hampton’s best rodeo this year was RodeoHouston, where she made it all the way to the Four-Person Championship Round. Hampton also cashed checks in San Antonio, Fort Worth and Okeechobee.

20. Nicole Baggarley - $22,730

Although Nicole Baggarley missed out on any of the money during the Texas Swing, the cowgirl made up for it with a win in Arcadia, Florida as she took home a check for $4,437. Baggarley secured another first place check at the Weatherford Breakaway Roping as she turned in a 2.1-second run, adding an additional $4,700 to her earnings.
